MFA Thesis: Hidden Identity

This exhibition presents work that communicates important parts of my life story and identity. I use Chinese handmade umbrellas, letterpress and movement display, is meant to synthesize the bicultural awareness and how people can hide or add expressions of identity to try to get a sense of belonging.

“This body of work conveys stories about my identity and how it has evolved over time and place. Maybe it resonates with some of your own stories. Awareness of this helps me be true to myself, even as I try to connect with others, feel belonging, show my affiliations, and express who I am.”
